'It was a good day' by Ice Cube is one of my all time favorite songs. It is timeless and classic, and demonstrates some of the best qualities and charms of the rap/hip hop genre. The song describes how Ice Cube coped with everyday life and violence in the early 90's South Central  Los Angeles, and what it would be like if nothing bad ever happened to cause stress.

Unlike most modern rap/hip hop songs of today, 'Good Day' is down to earth and simple. It isn't focused too much about unnecessarily having the most money, jewelry, and a lot of other things now associated with rap. In this song, Ice Cube focuses mainly on his lyrics and illustrating how his life was like to listeners, through his music.

:star: Lyrics- The lyrics are simple, yet complex at the same time. Ice Cube turns simple lyrics into powerful messages if you listen to them and try to understand his point of view. There is some profanity in the lyrics, but not a lot to distract from the overall message. I included the clean version in the song link.

:star: Message- In my opinion, the message of the song is very clear and simple: It would be a good day if people didn't have to worry about violence or the seemingly crazy things that happen in everyday life.

:star: tone/mood-  The hooks, lyrics, and chorus are very catchy and easy to listen to.

:star: Style- The style is classic old-school rap/hip hop of the 90's. Personally, this era produced some of my favorite songs from the rap/hip hop genre.

:star: sound- In my opinion, everything flows together brilliantly. Listen to it and give it a chance, and you might find yourself a fan of this song for life. :lol:

I rate this song- :star::star::star::star::star: 5/5
